Anthisan is suitable for:
- Pain relief for children 2 years and above. Suitable to use on the face (but not near eyes or mouth)
- Nettle rash Itching from bites/stings
- Swelling from bites/stings
Dr Jane Zuckerman, Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Travel Medicine, Royal Free & University College Medical School, London commented,“ Insect bites and stings can ruin a holiday, but many people forget that here in the UK mosquito bites, wasp stings and stinging nettles are a common occurrence. As families increase their daily activities outside once the weather improves, they increase their risk of being bitten or stung and all the discomfort that this brings. Anthisan should be a staple of all home and travel first aid kits, as it provides fast and safe relief from insect bites and stings in both adults and children”.
Dr Jane Zuckerman’s Top Tips for Preventing and Treating Bites & Stings
- Don’t eat sweet, sticky foods outdoors as they attract insects. Wasps are particularly attracted to sweet things in late summer
- Don’t sit close to flowers where insects are liable to gather
- Avoid wearing bright clothing, perfume or aftershave if possible as these all attract insects
- Cover arms and legs with loose long sleeved clothing to avoid mosquito and midge bites. It is also advisable to avoid areas of stagnant water
- Avoid walking in areas of rough grassland or dense scrubland where insects may live
- Never swim or paddle in water known to contain large numbers of jellyfish
- Teach children to recognise and avoid hazardous plants
- Encourage children to stay away from stray cats and dogs as they may have fleas
- If threatened by an insect, keep still and move slowly away
- If you are stung by a bee, gently remove the sting with fine sterilised tweezers or fingernails and apply Anthisan
- A sting in the mouth can be serious, so immediate medical attention should be sought
- In the case of wasps and fleas, to relieve pain simply apply Anthisan. If you are badly bitten by fleas, again it is advisable to see a doctor
- Never scratch a bite as it is likely to become inflamed and possibly infected
- If you have the misfortune of encountering a jellyfish on a day out by the sea, firstly remove any bits of Jellyfish with sandy hands, then clean the wound before applying Anthisan
- Remember if there is any inflammation or increased pain in the 48 hours following a bite or sting, always seek medical advice
